We have been busy here at Love Sew the last few months....getting excited for the new True Fabrics collections and watching the first ones arrive. We love seeing what you all have made with them, so if you haven't joined the Love Sew Facebook group yet, head over and join! It's a great community of makers full of inspiration. We hope you'll share your makes as the new True Fabrics collections arrive and show us what creative spin you put on Love Sew quilt patterns, too.
This week, I used some scraps of the new Honey Bunch fabric collection to make a mini version of our Happy Days pattern. Happy Days features two size options and is ideal for using packs of 10" squares or fat quarters. It's easy to size up or down to exactly what you need...just make more or fewer blocks!

For my mini version, I made 12 blocks set 3 x 4. It's just the right size for a table topper or carseat quilt. The fabrics resemble old time feed sack prints, so I wanted to create a quilt with the same reproduction style and Happy Days is the perfect pattern! Happy Days is quick to make, with a vintage 'simpler times' vibe, I think. Perfect for the feed sack prints.
As I was working on the quilt this week, I thought about how versatile these prints are. There's a reason 1930's style prints are still popular among quilters today. The vibrant colors and sweet, simple patterns make them easy to work into just about any quilt pattern. They also make choosing super easy because they work great in scrappy designs or organized in more traditional piecing, combined with modern prints, solids, or all by themselves....they just look 'happy'.
I love my little quilt as a cheerful table topper. You can't help feel good with these sweet prints and vibrant colors. You'd do great with the Honey Bunch fabrics made into the placemats from our tutorial last week, too.
Honey Bunch fabrics are now on sale here in the Love Sew shop in standard pre-cut packs: 10" squares, 5" squares, fat quarters, and 2 1/2" strips, plus select prints available by the yard, plus KITS for some of our favorite pre-cut friendly quilts: Game Day and Geometry .
This little quilt was finished with Hobbs batting and pieced with Aurifil thread. If you make one, be sure and send us a photo!
happy stitches,
Sharon
