With Joseph's Coat, Mike takes the traditional bargello piecing technique to new heights with a juicy color spectrum and the illusion of movement. Absolutely stunning!
Bargello is a classic patchwork technique that utilizes strips of color sewn together and then cut in strategic and varying widths and sewn back together. The magical 3-dimensional illusion is achieved through the size of the strips, how they are cut and sewn together, and of course the placement of colors.
For Joseph's Coat, we gave Mike free choice of our full selection of True Fabrics Sophisticated Solids. He chose the colors for the kit quilt and, I must say, the selection is a rainbow of perfection.
When you order the Joseph's Coat quilt kit, you'll receive all the fabrics you need for the quilt top and binding, a printed pattern booklet, and kit instructions to guide fabric placement using the kit fabrics to adapt original pattern. The quilt finishes 70" x 90", right for a twin or full size bed, or large snuggle. You might be tempted to display it on the wall to brighten up your home. You definitely can't go wrong with this beauty in your life every day.
Our sample quilt was finished with Hobbs Batting and six yards of Sophisticated Solids, available in your choice of colors in the Love Sew shop, and beautiful quilting by Mike Ellingsen.
If you prefer to add print fabric for your backing fabric, I recommend choosing something from the Avant Solstice or Equinox collections. The colors and prints are so vibrant...would look fabulous with the rainbow quilt front.
Joseph's Coat quilt kit is appropriate for a confident beginner quilter and beyond. While the piecing is rather simple, it is necessary to be able to sew a consistent seam and accurately use a rotary cutter and ruler and follow the pattern instructions carefully.
